Lots of fun if youre familiar with X-COM. A little rough around the edges but Im sure the developers will continue to refine the product.
Yes I downloaded this because I read it was a faithful homage to the classic pc game. Thats what the Internet is great for! Because this game, while a bit rough and unpolished, is great at delivering that authentic (hard!) Xcom feel. Great work! One issue: how the heck do you exit to the main menu when youre in the game?? Besides quitting the app.
This game is great, so glad I found it. Cant wait for update 2.04 to come out. According to their web site they release it on the 18th of November. So hopefully soon. ... Weird how it takes so long for an update to get in... Yet crap fake games somehow get in. PRIORITIZE PEOPLE!!
It is a game worth playing, but first I would suggest people check out the original game play online to see if it is your type of game. They kept their promise and are fleshing it out to more like the original and I hope to see more soon. Now I would just love to see a version of Masters of Orion, then I could have the three best old school turn based games (the third being Civilization).
This game reminds me of the original. Hope they keep adding more! Would like to be able to access the main menu without having to close the app. Hey guys how about Jagged Alliance next?! Its not a 99 cent app but its worth the price because it just as entertaining as you remembered it. Keep up the great work.
This game plays a lot like Xcom which makes the game fun but its not the 80s and the graphics pull the ratings way down , get with the times and update the graphics , then it would be a 5 star
I LOVE THIS GAME. It takes me back to my early computer game experience. It is the only game I have come across that is as much fun now as when I first played it. I have been playing this so much I think my wife left me though I am not positive on that. Just kidding.
I dont understand why this game has high reviews. Im not here to bash it! All Im going to say is dont spend your money...
Close from the original 1994 game, this is a realy good remake from one of the most better game of all time, spend lots of time playing this and i love it!
I got this game because I heard so many good things about it, but here on the app store, nobodys made a review. I may as well be the first: I got AvH because people said it was a clone/near copy of the classic X-Com, since I couldnt find a copy of my own. And, so far, Im impressed: the game is awesome. First, its grip is interesting: in the first few minutes of playing, youll be baffled by everything, the numbers, all the tutorials, and you might not feel like playing. After 10/15 minutes, it starts to hook you: you get tense on the enemy turns, you hold your breath as your characters walk through enemy territory and get shot at, and cheer whenever an alien gets hit. After 30 more, youll be completely consumed by its feel. Of course, if you like hard-core games, like myself. If you arent careful, you will loose. Period. And its even more critical after the first battle, because of the permanent death. Even if a guy gets shot once, he cant be included in the next fight. It doesnt help that the aliens are three times as better, with more health, better weapons, etc. This game is punishing, and isnt for you if you dont like too much difficulty. But, if youre like me - a gamer who wants to test himself - youll love this game. Everything about the game "feels" nice, for me at least. The graphics, the movement of the characters, the agonizing tension you get whenever an alien moves a muscle, its all good. Its also great with its re-nameable characters and randomized dungeons, which gives it a ton of replay value. This game is awesome. Its addicting, long, feels nice, and even better, its portable. I noticed now this isnt a really good review since I only focused on what I felt instead of its pros and cons (which Im too lazy to fix because currently its 9:27 and its hard typing on the iPads virtual keyboard), but if you want more detail, look up a review of the game X-Com; from what Ive heard, theyre nearly alike, and thats a good thing. X-Com + iPad = hours of fun. I usually am critical with games, but this game deserves a 5/5. Awesome work, developers. Awesome work.
When I found this game I was very excited, and it it a great game. I havent found any bugs or had any problems with it. It is almost an exact clone of the original I played when I was a kid. The only difference is this version is much harder. On the old PC version you could edit how much money you had in the bank, which was cheating, but it helped for those difficult missions and with base upgrades. I love this game, you guys did a great job recreating it. Thank you for making it!
pretty much an exact copy of the classic xcom. great interface, addictive, and runs on older devices. awesomesauce.
Kinda okay, but those reviews are not written by non-biased fans of the original xcom. Just having a turn based grid system dosent make it like the original. I had to give up after a few minutes of complete waste of time... sorry, but if it was possible, Id want my money back.
The screen caps look like this could be a full conversion of 1994s X-Com. It tries with the new missions, but misses a great opportunity to bring the strategy and difficulty from the classic to a touch-driven interface. The animations (there are any?!) are poor, the tiny button-driven combat UI is nearly impossible to use. Have a look at Xenonauts (for PC) if you want to see a proper X-Com-like game made in this century!
...I want the full UFO experience, like what was available in the 80-90s game: - intercepting flying aliens spacecraft - fighting base invasion - developing neutralising bomb - capturing aliens and studying them - fighting against and developing mind control - fighting against and developing tanks - knowing funds by donating country - etc And I would pay for that!
The music isnt working in onslaught mode for me.
Check out my channel before buying to see if you would enjoy it like I have. One of my favourites, only issue is the creator had more plans for updates but, hasnt done any due to lack of popularity.
I love X-Com, and I really wish for a good port to the iPad. This is not it. I played for about 10 minutes and then uninstalled it.
Reaaly amazing game, its plays similar xcom, and its awesome, really, its 6/5.
